I have learned a lot of useful information about cyberbullying that I can relate to situations in life. For example, if I ever see cyberbullying taking place, I will be an upstander in some way, and try to stop it. I have witnessed cyberbullying before, but I did not get involved. In this case, if I had gotten involved, the situation would have gotten worse. The two girls who were fighting needed to work out their argument out on their own. If I witnessed a different scenario, and I knew that I could help, I would. It is important to take action to stop cyberbullying, because it is easy for the target to get hurt if the situation gets out of hand.

A good way to create a Digital Literacy Wikipedia article is to have all of the classes get involved. Each class could be assigned a section to work on. Then in each class we can break up into groups and work on a section from the whole class’ section. This way, everyone who takes the class is able to contribute.

By watching the video and by looking at the websites, I have learned more about copyright and fair use. In the past, I have never learned about Creative Commons licences, and the video explained them very well. I learned that they are a way for copyrighted works to be shared, without violating the law. This way, the creators are able to have their work distributed, but they are still given the credit they deserve. I also further learned about the guidelines regarding the amount of copyrighted material you are allowed to use.

Quote: Something that someone has said or written, word for word

Paraphrase: Something that someone has said that is changed into other words

Summarize: A brief description that explains the general idea of something

Plagiarism: When you take someone else’s work and say it is your own

K: You cannot take someone else’s work and say it is your own. In order to use someone else’s work, you must correctly cite it, to give them credit. If you do not give them credit, it is considered plagiarism. If you choose to paraphrase their work, you must have different sentence structure and use different words.

W: I want to learn better summarizing skills.

L: I further learned about the terms listed above. For example, I learned that you do not need to cite phrases that are considered “common knowledge” and you have to cite people’s spoken words.
